August 2012

I didn't get right around to taking to her pictures of Lexi for her 3 months.

Lexi went in for her 4 month appointment.
Her stats are:
Height:  23.5 inches, 18%
Weight:  12 pounds, 4 ounces, 16%
Head Circumference:  15.75 inches, 19%

She likes her blanket on her face as much as her sister did.

Looks like someone found my phone and took a picture of what I do best.

Blake went on the opening archery hunt for elk and deer.  Blake wasn't too successful.  His buddy Ryan Fritzsche was the only one to go out the last morning hunting for an elk.  Ryan got one.  He came back to camp and asked the rest of the hunters who were too tired to get up that morning to come back and help he clean the elk he just shot. As Blake was helping he did a number on his hand and cut right through it. Blake cut his hand open about 9:00 am on Sunday morning on Aug 19.  But he thought he needed to wait while the rest finished cleaning the elk and took camp down before he should come home.  I left the girls with my parents to meet Blake at his parents to take him to the ER.

We got to the ER about 9:00 that night.  Thankfully it wasn't too busy and he got right in.  The ER doc cleaned the cut and did somewhat of an exam.  He referred us to some doctor, but we weren't to thrilled about him.  The next morning we called around to get a second opinion.

We called a few doctors and because of the injury Blake need immediate attention.  One doctor was willing to fit us in, while the first one we called said the first available appointment they had was Sept 19 (one month away).  This was unacceptable.  Blake could not leave a gaping wound open that long.  Blake's boss Al had some friends at the U of U with one of the best hand surgeons in the state.  Dr. Hutchinson was seeing Blake that afternoon and scheduled him for surgery the following morning.  As the fellow examined Blake,  it was determined he cut the tendon and the nerves in his left hand.  But would not for sure know until surgery.

Surgery was a successful.  They were able to repair the tendon and connect the nerves.  The tendon should recover great.  It was too soon to know how the nerves would heal.  Only time would tell.  The doctor said it would take about a year to know how the nerves healed.  He had such great support with my family and his family.  Along with his boss Al.  Al even came to the surgical center to make sure he was alright.

Since I was coming back to work from maternity leave, I didn't have lots a time to take off.  I took off to get Blake to the doctor appointment and to the surgery.  As most people know, when a patient is recovering from surgery, they should not be alone.  We left Blake the following day with my dad.  We figured Blake and my dad to care for each other.

The same day that Blake cut his hand, my dad thought he would try and fix the big garage door in the barn that was broken.  The head bracket came undone from the wood and he was trying to repair it.  As he got the bracket back to the wood, it flipped around.  My dad didn't want to take the bracket to the face, so he decided he would jump off the 12 foot high ladder.  When he landed, he fell and broke his elbow.  Therefore, he was unable to go to work for the rest of the week.  So Blake and my dad were buds for the week.  The crazy part of it all was both Blake and my dad hurt themselves within minutes of each other on Sunday morning. I guess this is why you should rest on the sabbath.  We are very lucky my dad only broke his elbow, because it could have been lots worse.  We are also very lucky Blake will recover.

Got a new app and was trying it out.  This picture was taken in June of Lexi.

Blake added a new addition to the family.  He is a mustang named Diesel.  Blake put some cameras on KSL to sell or trade.  A gentlemen wanted to trade the cameras for Diesel.  My dad is in 7th heaven because he said he has always wanted a mustang.  Thanks to Blake, he added a mustang to the herd.
